The International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (iIIRG) is pleased to announce a special edition of the journal Investigative Interviewing: Research & Practice dedicated to promoting research findings in different languages. In this first special issue, we will be publishing articles in English, as well as executive summaries in Spanish.
As a worldwide network of interviewing professionals, the iIIRG is committed to supporting evidence-based ethical interviewing practices. By embracing multilingualism, we can truly reflect the international nature of our organization and ensure research findings are disseminated to broader audiences across the world.
We invite researchers, academics, and practitioners from various disciplines to submit their original research papers, case studies, and theoretical articles related to investigative interviewing.
Instructions
Papers should be submitted in English with standard 200-word abstracts. Submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure high-quality published articles. Upon acceptance, we will request an extended and structured abstract (background, methods, results, discussion, practical implications) of up to 800 words in English.
Authors will have the option of translating the extended abstracts into Spanish themselves, or having the extended abstracts professionally translated through iIIRG. All translations will be quality checked by accredited translators.
Accepted papers will be featured in the special multilingual edition of Investigative Interviewing: Research & Practice, providing a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in the field.

Aims and Scope
Investigative Interviewing: Research and Practice (II:RP) is an international free, open-access journal dedicated to improving investigative interviewing and ensuring all improvements are underpinned by a robust evidence base. A wide range of articles will be considered for inclusion in II:RP given the multi-disciplinary nature of the iIIRG. Broadly, we welcome individual research papers or practitioner case studies in relation to any area of investigative interviewing, including:
• Interviewing suspects, witnesses, or victim-survivors;
• Expert advice to interviewers;
• Interview training and policy;
• Interview decision-making processes;
• False confessions;
• Detecting deception;
• Forensic linguistics;
• Health and occupational safety;
• Workplace accident investigations.
The list of topic areas is purely indicative and should not be viewed as exhaustive.
Ethics Statement
II:RP is committed to publishing research that has been conducted in an ethical manner and articles that have followed the International Standard for Authors. Key points include avoiding plagiarism, avoiding fabrication and inappropriate manipulation of data, avoiding and declaring any conflicts of interest, and ensuring authorship accurately reflects individuals’ contributions to the work.
II:RP is a free, open access journal. There are no fees payable to submit or publish in this journal.

Peer Review Policy
II:RP emphasises academic integrity by following a double-blind peer-review procedure: submissions will initially be screened by the editor for suitability, then sent to at least two anonymous independent experts for review. The editorial team will make the final decision. Book reviews will be reviewed by the editorial team but will not be independently peer reviewed. To uphold the peer-review policy, please ensure there are no identifying details in the main document submitted; identifying details should be kept to a separate title page.
